I received an email about how pharmacies have a huge leeway in how much they mark up generics. Apparently Costco does not do this (obviously, they have a markup, but it's not the many thousands of percents other places mark up). Here'a link to the article on snopes which is being circulated all over in opposition to this ghastly practice of huge markups, check out the percentages of markups, it's unbelievable (and it pays to shop around!)'e the link:

Yes ... Hooray for Costco .... they are a great company .. I worked for them, and miss being closer to one ..... The nearest is within 1.5 hours or 2.5 hours ... While most folks are familiar with Sam's, at least here on the east coast, Costco has been like that for years. A basic membership is only $50 executive is $100(with a % back to you every year), but, Pharmacy use is open to all. Some people don't realize that, all you have to do is tell the person at the door you are going to the pharmacy and they will let you in to get your script. There may be some drugs that are available on-line that aren't available immediately in store, but, ask the pharmacist to carry it regularly for you and they will. You can check it out at and click on Pharmacy, then on the right side is price checker, click on that and enter your drug name OR follow the alphabet and click on the letter, all the drugs some up.. you can get a 30-60 90 day refill ...... they also accept most insurances .......most stores also have eye exams and hearing aids...
