Abdominal strengthening exercise. Strong abdominal exercises are so important for transfers, especially from laying in bed to sitting over the edge of the bed.

When laying down on back, bend knees with feet flat on bed. Reach for the knees with both hands while lifting head and shoulders off of the bed. There is no need to try and do a full sit-up. Just lifting the head and shoulders off of the bed is good enough to get a contraction from the abdominals for strengthening. Repeat 10-15 times, 3 xs daily.
