I just heard about something and thought, wow, so helpful for difficult family situations. Here it is: caregiver contracts where the parent/loved one in need of help pays his or her child to care for them. Ackward, yes, but SO helpful in setting boundaries and protecting the caregiving family member. Many families use this to get money out of their estate (wish we had that problem!), but I see the real value to be those ackward family situations where the caregiving falls mainly on one child/relative, either because of geography or the other family members don't care. This protects that caregiver because it ensures that they will be paid for all their time and energy, and clearly sets forth all the terms in the contract so no other relative can get miffed.

You can google "caregivercontract" and there are actually forms out there you can check out. What a win-win for everyone in what is almost always a very difficult situation.
