Topic Large blisters and sores on front of shin? Go to previous topic Go to next topic Go to higher level

In the past few days my dad has started developing large blisters - quarter size - along the front of his shin, two of which have broken open and become sores. He does have circulation problems (seen by the darkening of the skin in that area) and I tend to think these things are related. His ankles are no longer swollen, though, since he went off Requip.

Anyone have experience with this? Do you think I should take him to his cardiologist, his dermatologist or his family practitioner?

WE did Sue....not so long ago. His legs swelled real bad, and water got underneath, it then turned to a staph infection so don't play around too long. I was putting neosporin on at first just thinking it was the blisters opening. Then he started getting them on his wrist, arms and hips....we were seeing a wound care specialist for wrapping the legs to reduce the swelling and when she saw the other sores she immediately took a culture and sure enough it was a staph. Not a MRSA but she gave him veramycin just to make sure........

Our LPN told us anytime he gets a sore that doesn't heal right away to have it looked at. She said since the immune system is not good with PD..if sores don't heal...get him in to see her....

Thanks, that's kind of what I was afraid of. They don't look infected, but I don't want to take chances, so I'll get him to some kind of doctor. Who to take him to...that is a question. I know some medical people at work that I respect so I'll pick someone's brain tomorrow.
