Just so you know, there ARE amazing doctors in our lives...actually, she is *my* doctor, but now she is Carl's...in a way. ;)

When I went in for my checkup this morning, she does what she always does...asks about me, the family, and Carl. When I told I don't like the latest neuro, she asked, how does Carl feel about him? Not much and dislikes his lack of follow through and response time. Then, she asked if he is depressed, etc...more questions than his own neuro has ever asked! Finished the checkup, I got dressed, and when I walked out, she had the forms filled out for me to get handicap license plates! She said, if you don't have these for Carl, I want you to use these for your leg (wink)...I have left leg lymphedema from my cancer surgeries...

Hang on, it gets better...

She then walked over to her physician's referral book and looked up Parkinson's at UCSF...and called the Parkinson's Center there. Spoke to the Dept. Head and said Carl would be calling to make an appointment! Can you believe that? I was not surprised she did it, but rather stunned! Like she said, depends entirely upon Carl's desire to go there. When I got in the car, he looked like he was going to cry! He always has liked my doctor, but now he loves her...he can now have a full staff of doctors, neuros who specialize in Parkinson's, and a motion disorder specialist...not offered before and not an option before, without a referral!

So, we had a GREAT day!! Hugs and have a fantastic weekend! Jane

Yes, there are some great doctors. After our neuro said we were at "the end of the line" for medications, our GP stepped in and tried all kinds of new combinations to try to make things a little better. Not only that, but he gave me his private cell phone number and said to call him before we went to emerg again. So amazingly supportive. There are some good ones out there!

WOW, Jane! That's amazing! Big hugs this morning... for all your good news. Crossing my fingers that Carl will love his new docs and you will both be able to move forward with confidence.
