Has anyone dealt with what we call the 'mystery fever'? Comes on suddenly, especially when he's overtired, runs anywhere from 99 to 102, and doesn't seem to be associated with any pain or testable diagnosis? It puts him down and in bed for days, where he shivers and shakes with the chills, not tremor, and sleeps like crazy?

Do we chalk it up to a regularly recurring mystery bug, or is this a thing? No doc has been able to tell us anything.

ML, I heard on the news the other day that out in CA and AZ area I think they said (I know CA but not sure of other state) they were seeing a fever. Again not sure of what they called it desert fever or something like that? They are blaming the cases on global warming claiming it isn't usually seen in the area but with rising temps it is now showing up. I don't know if you are in that area. Just a thought. Otherwise I have no idea or guess. Hope he gets better soon.

Valley Fever, but we aren't that far south. We are in WA.'s weird, right? It seems o recur for him at least once a year, and hangs on long enough that we go through the whole "family circle" of doctors and specialists and tests until they conclude that we are the healthiest crazy people around! Lol. And then it goes away again for awhile. I just don't know what to think. Wondered if it was somehow connected to PD, or just another red herring.

Has he been tested for Lyme disease?

Been fighting fevers, chills, and a hacking cough since hits hard, then goes away for about two weeks, then I get sick for another week...MAYBE one week a month have I felt well...Our daughter went, and it was allergies. The doctor told her that because of the fires and dryness this year, allergy season is earlier and will last longer...people like me who have never had this before will suffer greatly...Carl has the cough, but hasn't been as sick...Don't know if this is what he could have, but I wouldn't be surprised.

On that same note, a friend in Indiana wrote to me that they are talking about putting her on oxygen for a few weeks because her bronchial problems are so bad...again, he told her allergy season is wreaking havoc this year...

I have no idea if this is what it could be, but I think I would call the doctor...We lived in the Valley for 25 years, so we have had Valley Fever...this is much worse...and more debilitating...wish it would go away!

Hugs to you both. Jane

Michelle, I just called my Mom, as I remembered my Dad going through this later in life...after it happened several times, the doctor told him his body was "detoxing" from all his meds. It came on three or four times a year and he just went to bed til it passed. He wasn't on PD meds, but took a lot of meds for diabetes and heart...not sure this is usable info, but I tried! :)

Mylove, I don't have an answer but if he is detoxing, be sure to give his liver lots of support in the form of Vitamin C from fresh non-concentrate lemon or lime juice, and milk thistle. The vitamin C pills just are not the same, try the pure juice.

By lots, I mean a tablespoon or so in every glass of water he drinks. Let us all know if this helps.

The detoxing thing is as good a guess as any. It makes sense. It came and went again, with no other symptoms. It's like some periodic hibernation thing.

I guess some things are just destined to be not understood.

Thank you all for the input! We made sure to keep his immune system up and just let him sleep off whatever it was.

Editing to say - I have wondered about Lyme, but I don't think he's ever been tested. Hmmmm
