A research study is being conducted by Maryann Abendroth, Ph.D., RN, a faculty member at Northern Illinois University School of Nursing & Health Studies. The purpose of the study is to learn about the factors that influence the health and well-being of family caregivers (informal caregivers) of persons with Parkinson s disease.

The research involves having caregivers answer some questions about their thoughts on care giving for someone with Parkinson s disease. Also, they will be asked some demographic questions. The survey will take about ten minutes to complete. I created a flyer which has an internet link that directs participants to the survey. This site is powered be secure survey software.

Caregiver responses will be used to develop a caregiver strain risk screen tool for use by researchers and health care practitioners. Determining factors that influence strain can guide practitioners in promoting interventions that increase the well-being of caregivers who provide care to persons with Parkinson s disease.

This survey had been previously available last year on the internet and since then we refined it based on caregivers recommendations.

Now it's in the final stage of development and she would value caregivers taking the newer survey -- if interested, go to:
