Taking a moment to address other concerns, My fellow Parkinson suffers and caregivers. Watch what you're around for cleaners and household/workshop products. Read the ingredients and warnings, avoid those that warn against usage by or exposure to anyone with a central nervous system problems. These can easily effect Us. ( nail polish remover, paint thinner, polyurethane all can and have thrown me for a loop. I go by the ...if it calls for adequate or use only in well ventilated areas ...get Me away from it rule.) I know, just what you want to think about more worries right? But if you've got a home project going on and PDers exhibiting more symptoms or something new, it is highly unlikely the Neurologist is going to ask what are you doing for home improvements?
Can't you hear it now? "What's the problem?" "Oh He/She fell off the ladder the other day and is stumbling and falling a lot lately!" ... "I see and why were you on the ladder?" "Well we're repainting the house and....." "You have Parkinson's You aren't supposed to climb ladders. Stay off them." "That's what I told Him/Her Doctor!" "Well balance and falling are normal with Parkinson's so lets try upping your dosage and see you in a month...stay off ladders!" .....A month goes by and back at the Neurologists....."How are You doing?" "Well I'm feeling better, the stumbling is better and also not falling hardly at all!" 'That's good." "But now I've got all this involuntary movement, I'm twisting and jumping all the time!" That's dyskinesia, we can try XXX to help, if We lessen the dosage of Y the falling might come back." ........No mention of paint thinner, no mention of hiring the College Kid down the street to finish the job. Just dyskinesia and stay away from ladders!
Sometimes We have to be detectives. We not only have to read the fine print on over the counter medicines but on most products we buy. This goes for the work place too. Take care, it's a dangerous world out there, best of luck and hang in there!
