| Do any of you know anything about the research that is being done both in France and in Russia with bee venom for reversing PD? The Michael J Fox Foundation funded last August a grant for Dr. Andreas Hammon over in France to determine if bee venom can help with PD. Bee venom has the precurser apamine in it. Apamine can travel to the brain and cross the blood brain barrier and is then converted to dopamine. It can also heal the damaged neurons. Dr. Hammon had a patient who improved dramatically after bee venom therapy, and so is studying it in rats. The Russian study is doing the same. If any of you want more info - I am happy to pass on what I know so far. We have access to Bee Venom Manuka Honey from New Zealand. They are finding that people with MS and other neurological diseases are dramatically improving by eating the Manuka Honey that contains bee venom.....very interesting. I would appreciate any input from all of you. We are just now learning about this. |

Hi Donna, This sounds interesting. I'm willing to try anything. I just joined the MJFF and still have not heard of everything they're doing. Do you get it at a health food store? Maybe GNC? I would like to know where you get it, but first I need to know what to ask for. You call it in the thread title "Manuka Honey from New Zealand and Bee Venom," as if they are two different things, but then you say "bee venom," then "Bee Venom Manuka Honey from New Zealand," as if it were one item. I'd appreciate any clarification. I agree that this is interesting and worth pursuing! |

| I will try to give more information - sorry if I was confusing. In New Zealand they produce a honey called Manuka. The Manuka plant only grows in New Zealand and the West Coast variety is the most potent. It is of the Tea Tree family - Mellaluca. It is 50 times more potent than Tea Tree. At one of the University Hospitals in New Zealand a Dr. Molan has done MANY tests on Manuka honey. It has a high level of antibacterial, antiviral and healing properties. So much so that they are not measuring the level of activity in the honey. They have proven that Manuka Honey kills Golden Staph - and there is no antibiotic in existance that kills Golden Staph - it is the super bug. In addition to that, there are 2 bee keepers who have patented a method for removing the bee venom from bees and mixing it into the Manuka Honey, thus producing Bee Venom Manuka Honey. 4 teaspoons is supposed to equal 1 bee sting. The Michael J Fox Foundation in August of 2008 funded a grant for Dr. Hammon to determine if bee venom can really heal PD. I wrote to him yesterday to determine if he is using bee stings to deliver the venom (and the apamine) or if they are feeding their rats the bee venom honey. I will let all of you know when/if I hear back from him. There is also a large study going on in Russia with the same thing. They have also found that bee venom, when introduced into the body, travels to the brain and heals the dopamine receptor sites. It is very fascinating. The downside is that there are people in Europe now saying they are selling Manuka Honey who are not - so you have to be so careful of whom you buy it from. We are working directly with a beekeeper in New Zealand. My husband Joe began eating the Bee Venom Honey about a week ago. It is a slow healing process we are told - he loves the taste! They have had great results with people with MS, Diabetes and Arthritis. There is also a person named Alan Lorenzo in CT who travels around the country teaching people to use the bees to sting themselves. (Bee Well Therapy). He recently had a man with Bells Palsy completely healed in just a few months of stinging himself. It has been proven that if placed directly on a wound, it heals it like nothing else can. Recently I got poison ivy, and I normally have the rash for about 2-3 weeks. I was told to put the honey on my skin where the rash was. I was shocked to see the rash completely gone in 3 days!!! It was a miracle for me because I suffer with it so much when I get it. Nothing usually works to take it away. Anyway, let me know if you want more info. I am learning all I can because we don't have the $11K we need to go to Germany for the Adult Stem cell treatment. |
