I heard a joke the other day that is making me reconsider the wisdom of not asking for specific things in prayer (something I was raised with, for good or bad). Hope no one is offended by this joke: Old Italian Man, very poor, kneeling before statue of angels: "Please, please, please, help me win the lottery...I am so hungry, so poor, so tired....please help me win, please, please, please." Angels: "Please, go buy a lottery ticket, please, please, please." |
