Hi Patti, how does it feel not having to do all the things you used to do for your father? Was it a huge adjustment? Just curious. Inge |

Hi Inge: First I loved taking care of my dad but ultimatley I wished he would have never been ill for me to take care of him. Loosing him was like loosing a part of myself. It was very hard for me to function for a long time. I had a routine every day with him and then it seemed abrubtly taken away from me. I found myself wondering what to do and found myself walking in my mom and dad's room a lot just standing where his hospital bed once was. I have two boys so I had plenty to do but found myself extremely lost without my Dad. He was everything to me. So I would say it was a huge adjustment for me. It will be 4 years July 17th of this year and I do have to say that it has gotten eaiser for me. It took me up to last year though to allow myself to let him go. I felt letting him go, to stop mourning him, to stop feeling sad was dishonoring him. My feelings were so distorted and it took a lot for me to work through it. Now, I visit his grave and have a cup of coffee their "with him" as we always use to do. I leave the cemetary now with pride and love and gratefulness that I am still his daughter and I have no regrets because I was able to walk his journey with him holding his hand the whole way. Thankful that he is at peace! Patti |

Hi, Patti I don't think I knew you on the forum. I have been here a couple of years. Like you I feel as if the people here are my friends and they got me through my husband's illness. I lost my husband a year ago but continue on the board for support (mine and others). Glad you are back. |

Hi Ann: Thank you for the welcome back!! As they say, It is great to be back home again!! I started on the forum in 2003 I believe and left shortly after my father passed away in 2005. I am regretful I left but I am glad to be back. I too have a desire to help and offer support to those who may be in need like I received when I needed it so much. Patti |
